Food of the day: hot buttered pretzels
That's what I want to have for breakfast tomorrow. Delicious!
Ingredients
350 g flour
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 1/4 tsp. yeast
1 1/2 cup warm water
1 tbsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
3 tbsp. vegetable butter
Directions
1 Preheat the oven to 220°.
2 Grease a baking sheet with vegetable oil or use parchment paper to line it.
3 For the topping, in a bowl, whisk the warm water and baking soda and keep it aside.
4 For the dough, in a stand mixer bowl, add flour, salt, sugar and yeast. Pour warm water in it and stir. Then, using a dough hook attachment, knead the mixture on medium low for 5 minutes or until the dough is soft and smooth, but not stick.
5 In a plastic bag, put the dough, and allow it to rise for about 30 minutes.
6 Remove the dough from the plastic bag and place it on an oiled working counter.
7 Using a knife divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Roll these pieces into long rope. Shape each rope into a pretzel. Dip each pretzel in baking soda wash, and place it on the baking sheet.
8 Sprinkle salt over it and allow it to rest for about 10 minutes.
9 Place it in the oven and bake for 10 minutes, or until the pretzels are fluffy and golden brown.
10 Remove the sheet from the oven, and brush butter over the hot pretzel.
Enjoy!
